Youth Week celebrations in Logan will wrap up in splendid style with CAOS, or Crestmead Outdoor Annual Spectacular, set to explode on April 17.

The inaugural event, taking place at Crestmead PCYC, will include live entertainment, rides, bands and buskers, a skate, scooter and BMX competition, and more.

"The event is a great chance for the Crestmead community to come together and celebrate the talents of its young people," Health, Sport, and Community Services Committee Chairperson Councillor Phil Pidgeon (Division 9) said.

"This is going to be an extremely enjoyable family day out, with plenty of colour and activity, and ensures that Logan's Youth Week celebrations end on a high.

"It is a jam-packed event which offers something for all the family while remaining youth-focused."

The event is a joint venture for Career Keys, Logan PCYC, Champion Sound, Youth and Family Services and Logan City Council, and is being hosted by Crestmead PCYC.
Crestmead PCYC branch manager Sgt Mel Cowie said she was looking forward to the event, which offered all Logan families a great time at no cost.

"Although it is of course a Youth Week event, that doesn't mean that all the family can't come," she said.

"There is something for everyone to enjoy - as well as lots of entertainment, we have a dunking machine, rock climbing wall, rides, an animal farm, and more.

"It is about showcasing a number of young people's talents, as well as just getting out there for a fun day out - one we hope to host every year from now on."

She said local music acts would be a highlight of the day.

"A lot of these young musicians are so talented, and we often ring them and ask them to perform at certain events for free, so this time we really wanted to say thanks to them by providing them with a chance to do a paid performance in front of a big local crowd," Sgt Cowie said.

There will also be stalls at the event showcasing the many youth services in the area.

CAOS will be held at Crestmead PCYC, Gimlet St, Crestmead on Saturday, 17 April, from noon - 6pm. It is a free event.
